His Holiness Pope Benedict I (in Latin Benedictus) is the Pope number 62 of the Catholic Church.

was born in Roma, in the current country of Italy.

The Holy Father Benedict I initiated his pontificate in the year 575. He succeeded Pope John III. His papacy lasted for 4 years, ending during the year 579. He was succeeded by Pelagius II, who would become the following bishop of Rome.
