Benedicto was born in Roma, in the current country of Italy.

The Holy Father Benedict VI initiated his pontificate in the year 973. He succeeded Pope John XIII. His papacy lasted for 1 years, ending during the year 974. He was succeeded by Benedict VII, who would become the following bishop of Rome.
