Eugenio was born in Roma, in the current country of Italy.
The Holy Father Eugene II initiated his pontificate in the year 824. He succeeded Pope Paschal I. His papacy lasted for 3 years, ending during the year 827. He was succeeded by Valentine, who would become the following bishop of Rome.
