His Holiness Pope Gregory IX (in Latin Gregorius Nonus) is the Pope number 178 of the Catholic Church.

Ugolino (Conde de Segni) was born in Anagni, in the current country of Italy.

The Holy Father Gregory IX initiated his pontificate in the year 1227. He succeeded Pope Honorius III. His papacy lasted for 14 years, ending during the year 1241. He was succeeded by Celestine IV, who would become the following bishop of Rome.
