His Holiness Pope John I (in Latin Ioannes) is the Pope number 53 of the Catholic Church.

was born in Toscana, in the current country of Italy.

The Holy Father John I initiated his pontificate in the year 523. He succeeded Pope Hormisdas. His papacy lasted for 3 years, ending during the year 526. He was succeeded by Felix IV, who would become the following bishop of Rome.
