His Holiness Pope Leo XIII (in Latin Leo Tertius Decimus) is the Pope number 256 of the Catholic Church.

Gioacchino Pecci was born in Carpineto Romano, Lacio, in the current country of Italy.

The Holy Father Leo XIII initiated his pontificate in the year 1878. He succeeded Pope Blessed Pius IX. His papacy lasted for 25 years, ending during the year 1903. He was succeeded by Pius X, who would become the following bishop of Rome.
