His Holiness Pope Nicholas III (in Latin Nicolaus Tertius) is the Pope number 188 of the Catholic Church.

Juan Gaetano Orsini was born in Roma, in the current country of Italy.

The Holy Father Nicholas III initiated his pontificate in the year 1277. He succeeded Pope John XXI. His papacy lasted for 3 years, ending during the year 1280. He was succeeded by Martin IV, who would become the following bishop of Rome.
