His Holiness Pope Paul IV (in Latin Paulus Quartus) is the Pope number 223 of the Catholic Church.

Giovanni Pietro Carafa was born in Nápoles, in the current country of Italy.

The Holy Father Paul IV initiated his pontificate in the year 1555. He succeeded Pope Marcellus II. His papacy lasted for 4 years, ending during the year 1559. He was succeeded by Pius IV, who would become the following bishop of Rome.
