His Holiness Pope Peter (in Latin Petrus) is the Pope number 1 of the Catholic Church.

Shimon ben Yona (Simon bar Jona) was born in Bethsaida, Galilea, in the current country of Israel.

The Holy Father Peter initiated his pontificate in the year 33. His papacy lasted for 34 years, ending during the year 67. He was succeeded by Linus, who would become the following bishop of Rome.
