Sergio was born in Roma, in the current country of Italy.
The Holy Father Sergius II initiated his pontificate in the year 844. He succeeded Pope Gregory IV. His papacy lasted for 3 years, ending during the year 847. He was succeeded by Leo IV, who would become the following bishop of Rome.
